Bigfoot Cloaking (From The Sasquatch Chronicles Article in Mountain Connection)
I’m certain that a large percentage of you read this column each month because you can’t imagine what loony theory about Bigfoot I’ll come up with next. Come on, own up – you know it’s true. Well, I won’t disappoint you this month either! It’s now time to move beyond Bigfoot 101 to a new level – say, to a Bigfoot B.S. degree (Bachelor of Science, that is). Knowing that many of you are Bigfoot skeptics, I should inform you that I actually incorporate high-tech subliminal messages into my articles that slowly, imperceptibly convert skeptics into believers. But I digress. Back to the Big subject at hand. When I first began doing serious Bigfoot research I was firmly in the “Great Ape” camp; i.e., Bigfoot is a physical being, partly or mostly ape, and lives primarily in the Pacific Northwest. I have now changed my mind on all three counts. The first question – whether Bigfoot is simply a flesh and blood creature or perhaps something more – is what I want to address here. I know with 100% certainty that Bigfoot(s) exist, and in numbers that would probably defy our imaginations. This certainty comes both from the huge number of eyewitnesses I have personally interviewed (over 60) and from the abundant physical evidence of Sasquatch activity that exists all around us in our national forests and parks. For example, I live in Bailey, and I’ve received reports of sightings from the Ben Tyler trail on 285, down to Wellington Lake, over to the Tanglewood/Mt Rosalie trail… and everywhere in between. If these sightings are true (and I have no reason to doubt them), then either Sasquatch is the fastest creature on earth, or there are simply far more of them around us than we could have ever imagined. Or there’s a third possibility: what if Bigfoot is able to move in and out of our dimension at will? I know, it sounds far-fetched. But there’s no other way I can explain how elusive they are, how their footprints sometimes just stop as though they disappeared into thin air, and how they can just appear seemingly out of nowhere. Then there’s the whole issue of “cloaking”. Have you ever seen the movie Predator? Remember how the alien could move through the trees, and all you could see was a shimmering change in the foliage as it moved from tree to tree? Well, besides the accounts I’ve read about online, I now have two eye-witness accounts that sure seem to indicate that something out there is able to use some type of cloaking technology. One of my research associates was out exploring along CR 126 with her family last November. While they were hiking, the forest suddenly went eerily quiet – almost like a switch was flipped. Birds, squirrels… everything stopped. Startled by this sudden, obvious change my friend began looking around to see what caused the silence. She noticed a strange, visual phenomenon next to a tree about 30 yards away: There was a defined area next to the tree that was “shimmering” or seemed out of focus on one side of the tree. She called her nephew over and asked if he could see anything unusual, and almost immediately he pointed to the same, strange visual effect. While they watched, the “shape” moved several feet to one side – always maintaining the defined shape and shimmering effect. At that point they decided it was time to make a hasty retreat! What did they see that day? I have no real explanation, but I do know that both of these individuals are normal, intelligent adults not given to exaggeration. I will leave you to draw your own conclusions.
As I close this edition, I encourage you to come visit our store and Bigfoot museum in downtown Bailey. It’s worth the trip J
